Hillside Christian Church Youth Ministry Vision

We are a youth group dedicated to making disciples of all people, seeking to follow the two great commandments to “Love God and Love Others. “Our goal is to promote spiritual discipleship, unity within the body of believers, and an open and accepting place for teenagers to learn and grow in their faith.

Sunday School is at 9:30 am in Room A1.

Wednesday Night Youth (High School & Middle School) is at 6:30 pm in A1.

There is a weekend opportunity each week. Check your schedules or contact the church office.

About Our Program

You will find a proper balance of learning about the Bible and having fun. We offer year-round programs specifically for youth on Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, and a weekend activity. Our primary goal is to help our youth take ownership of their faith. We share our different views and look to scripture for insight into God’s will and message for us. We encourage teens to seek an understanding of the scriptures for themselves. We want them to be able to know the scriptures and to know why they believe what they believe. Adult sponsors attend our meetings and offer support and give input to the group.

Sunday School (Education)

Our Sunday morning Sunday School class will have a bible lesson in which the youth will dive into the Scripture and learn more about God’s message for all of us. There will be fun activities to accompany the lesson to give the youth a hands-on approach to learning more about the Bible. Class starts at 9:30am, and youth are encouraged to arrive on time to be able to experience to full portion of the lesson.

Wednesday Night (Application)

On Wednesday nights, the youth will experience activities that will help apply their faith into their daily lives. It might include a service project about the church, preparing something that will be included in the Sunday worship services, a topical discussion over an important issue within society, and other ideas. You will also find that we emphasize service to others. We are regularly involved in mission trips, community service projects, and other opportunities to give back to our community.

Weekend Activity (Recreation)

Each weekend (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday), an activity will be planned for the youth to have an enjoyable time, spending time and bonding together as a group. These activities could include lock-ins, game nights, sporting events, bowling parties, swimming parties, and many other fun activities. When planning events, group leaders will make every effort to make these activities as cost-conscious as possible. Occasionally, youth will be asked to bring some money to help cover the cost, but the amount will be as manageable as possible.

Regional Activities

As a member congregation of the Christian Church-Disciples of Christ, the Hillside youth will attend many different events sponsored by the Christian Church in Kansas. These events include the Youth Convention/Regional Assembly (these events take place in the fall in alternating years) and Spring Retreats (Middle School takes place in February and High School takes place in March). There is also a program called International Affairs Seminar available for high school upperclassmen to travel to New York City and Washington D.C. where they can learn about how their faith affects world issues.
